Village Point Welcomes Executive Head Chef Shelley Jones

Following our growth plans for 2019, we’re pleased to welcome to the team Executive Head Chef, Shelley Jones. Originally from New Zealand, Shelley brings with her many years of experience, incredible passion and the ability to deliver world-class cuisine to our members and guests.

 

About Shelley

We’re extremely honoured to have Shelley on board here at Village Point. She brings an extensive culinary background to the team, and has worked in different style venues all over the world, serving food for the likes of Prince Charles, The European Commission, Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings Director) and the New Zealand Prime Minister.

Shelley’s love of fine food and impeccable service led her to travel and leave her home country to take up the role of Chef to the New Zealand Ambassador in Belgium. This included preparing for large scale gala dinners, lunches for diplomats, an eclectic mix of conferences, as well as exclusive private dining events for the Ambassador. Shelley has also spent time working for venues in various parts of Europe where she explored recipe development with a particular focus on New Zealand meat products and desserts. When she moved to the UK to set up her own catering company – Kauri Fine Foods – her mission was to ‘deliver extremely tasty, kiwi-themed foods to your table and stir the insatiable chef in you’. Shelley now lives in Heaton Moor with her husband and three daughters, and manages a team to deliver all the catering services at Village Point alongside other events and local markets.

Shelley claims the majority of her learning and development has come from her time working with New Zealand star chef Ruth Pretty. Working with Ruth, Shelley was empowered to make a living doing what she loved: creating memorable experiences for others through event catering, live cooking demonstrations and recipe development. An event that really stands out for her was an elaborate private dinner held on the 9th of the 9th 1999 where she worked on the recipe development incredible nine-course menu alongside nine specially selected fine wines.

 

Working with The Team at Village Point

As we head into the New Year, we’re becoming increasingly popular for weddings, events and conferences so it’s definitely an exciting time for the whole team to have Shelley come on board. We’ve already seen an incredible impact from having her in the business by the positive feedback and kind reviews on our Facebook page noting her exceptional, personable service and delivery of flavour-packed dishes.

Shelley and our Events Team know that it’s of the utmost importance to have an adaptable, personal approach to event planning and delivery. This is why Shelley fits so well into our overall business concept – she has volumes of passion and heaps of creativity for food and prides herself on imaginative menus, delivering client requirements to perfection.

Commenting on her new venture with Village Point, Shelley says “It’s hugely exciting, Village Point is a unique venue offering something very special to The Heatons and the North West. I feel really privileged to be a part of this journey and to work with such a wonderful team where we all enjoy what we do, with true attention to detail. I know there are many great things ahead for all of us involved.”

 

The Future of Food at The Forum

As we’ve mentioned before, we’ve got big plans for 2019: to create a first-class venue with an expanded, fully-featured workspace. Shelley will be a key part of making these plans come to life by enhancing the experience for our clients and community with incredible food.

Part of our strategy to become established in the South Manchester area is to develop a new side of the business, specifically focussing on a food offering with a fresh concept for both leisure and business customers. With Shelley’s experience and guidance, we’ll offer event clients a broader range of catering services at the venue including premium networking canapés, traditional style wedding breakfasts, private business lunches and more. We’ve also planned a range of premium culinary events to include entertainment, fine wines, and incredible food from Shelley and her team throughout 2019.
