The Future of Village Point: Big Changes Coming Soon

After two successful years in business, Village Point will be undergoing a major expansion in Q4 2018.

 

Two Years and Five Stars Later ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We launched Village Point two years ago this summer with two event spaces and a small coworking space. Our intent was to serve the business community during the week with a first-class flexible workspace, and the events market over the weekend by hosting celebrations such as weddings and birthdays in our flagship space – The Ballroom. It’s been an incredible journey, and both our events and coworking businesses have surpassed all of our expectations. We’ve been honoured to serve a wide range of customers, and are grateful for the string of 5-star reviews we’ve collected in the process.

We’ve also recruited and formed key partnerships which have helped us deliver some unforgettable experiences for our guests. These include the appointment of acclaimed culinary expert Shelley Jones as Head Chef, partnering with celebrity chef Simon Rimmer for the first of our vegetarian gourmet evenings, and working with the outstanding team at local Michelin-rated restaurant Brassica. This is truly just the beginning, but for now we would like to extend a big thank you to all of our customers, partners, and team members who’ve helped make this happen.

 

Expanding into 2019 with a Full Featured Coworking Space

We’re making big upgrades to our events business with acoustic improvements to The Ballroom, increased draught beeer offerings, and an additional new lounge area. These changes, together with a vastly improved and remodelled ground floor entrance area, will make the entire customer experience more welcoming to each and every guest.

One area of our business which has been particularly interesting to watch – locally and globally – is coworking. “What is this?” you might ask. It’s a question we get a lot, and it’s no surprise because it’s a relatively recent phenomena. Coworking (pronounced “co-working”) is a new way for individuals and small businesses to work by sharing a workspace which goes above and beyond the traditional office. These spaces are often crafted with best-practice interior design principles to maximise productivity and encourage connections between members, and also offer a wide range of work-related amenities like private offices, meetings rooms, and phone booths for taking private calls. Memberships are charged on a flexible, month-to-month basis (more like a gym than a traditional office with a long expensive lease).

Community is also a big part of the coworking experience. Because society has undergone a huge shift as we’ve moved into the information age, the type of work we do has changed dramatically. Symptoms of this shift have included more people working from home, more freelance-based careers, and increasingly distributed teams with little sense of community. This is where coworking spaces have an answer. They bring the concepts of workspace and networking under one roof, so that connections are there when needed and occur authentically, during business hours, within the space people work.

A range of membership options make all of the above benefits accessible to everyone regardless of where they are in their career. For example, “Hot Desk” memberships are for individuals who need frequent access to a premium workspace without the cost of occupying somewhere permanently. “Dedicated Desk” memberships are for those requiring their own desk complete with storage and a business address. “Private Office” memberships are for individuals and small teams requiring best-in-class, dedicated office space embedded within the wider coworking facility.

So, this is the direction in which we’re heading. We’re creating a first-class workspace, building a vibrant business community under one roof, and would love you to be a part of it. Nothing will be changing in terms of ownership or management of the company, nothing will change for existing or future customers, and we will still be hosting events in our big, beautiful event space – The Ballroom. We’re simply investing in making the venue better for everyone who uses it.
